One Step At a Time

Dear Student,

"To be a part of a child's life and celebrate his every little success forms the greatest moments of any teacher's life."

There are days, more like moments when you are downright confused, messy and in a haze of a crazy spiral mess. The more you share the more varied views or advice you receive. And if, you are not completely sane and in one of those moods it affects you the most, dampening your mood and spoiling your day. It's not just you whose affected but the people you hang out with; your colleagues and if you're a teacher the worst hit party are your students. They bear the brunt of your mood swings. But is it right or is it mental? It would be unwise to say, you're correct and blame your students for everything, "Hey I was stressed out and you added to it" or "It's all your fault, kids these days I tell you no respect for elders or teachers." et al. I mean it's easy to jot down excuses and blame others, why do we not look at our faults? It could have been us and not them.

From the past one week or so, I've been listening to this; "You're too friendly or you care too much. It's okay to care for your friends and family. But there is a line between a student and a teacher. You shouldn't be friendly with them, at least not outside the class and blah blah." End of story what all that yielded was;
1. Not to be friendly to students.
2. Only be strict.
3. Do Not Care, there's a line that divides you.

I freaked up, big time. On one hand I've had some exceptionally awesome teachers, who went on caring for us like we were their own kids. And the best part was, they loved us; loved me, were friendly & caring, heard us out even if they couldn't help us and always, always gave us advice; not the bookish one but of their own experiences. And I realize we respected them, still do and even remember them, are in touch with them, if not all some. They taught well, maybe they weren't perfectionist, no one is or maybe they were. But they respected us, us students. And looking back now, I don't remember how they taught me or if, they ever made a goof-up in class, what I do clearly remember is, how they made me feel. Heck, they didn't even lose hope in me when I and my so-called friends thought I was a lost cause. After all, all we need is a bit of love, hope & lots of faith.

And today I finally took the courage to ask my mum, "Hey what kind of a teacher were you?" And you know what she told me? "I was friendly, caring; I was new obviously so it was not a cake walk everyone is at one point but I maintained good relations both in and out of class. Experience and perfection in teaching comes with time, when delivering a lecture. But friendliness it should be there from the start. And what you need to have is patience, lots of patience."

This reminds me I read somewhere, "It doesn't matter if your student is 5 years younger to you or 15, he or she is your student & if you treat them well, they will treat you well, and respect you." After all to gain respect & friends one should be the same. You get what you give.

There will be hundred's of people who will advice you, but only ten will truly do and mean it. So today, my confusion has resolved and I'm sorry for being mean and selfish and for being angry when there was no need, anger is never the solution. I love you guys and that's it. I've loved every single student of mine that I've taught till date and In shaa Allah will do in future too.

And an ending quote, "The best thing about being a teacher is that as they grow, we grow with them."

Chapter 1:

Chapter 1:

He sat on the counter top at a bar, combating with himself he gulped down his drink in one go the sour taste lingered in his mouth a little longer smoldering his throat but nothing could wipe of the sugary taste of her lips from his very own.

A Pinch of Hope !

A Pinch of Hope !

Before sunlight can shine,
An enchanting darkness smiles !

Lilies bloom and leaves rustle,
And a never ending gloom settles.

The moon is aglow and a starry night engulfs,
Leaving behind trails of lone memories to revive.

Time flees as birds fly,
Turning dusk to dawn and kindles hope.

Retracing the path that I walked on,
I gleam and shimmer like a new  born.

Confessions Of My Heart ! (Last Part)

I'm finally posting the epilogue of the story...It's a really short one though but then some thoughts and feelings can't even be expressed in words as words fall short and they can only be felt. Hope you can connect to it, like you could to the rest of the story, please do let me know what you all felt.
(Part 2)

(PART 3)

"I love you without knowing how,
or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly,
without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way."

Some stories begin in the night while some in the broad daylight; time passes by and things change yet something things are forever the same; just like minutes turning to hours, months into years and night into days, the cycle remains unperturbed as the nature balances each and everything in accordance to the other and fulfills it's duty.

It was a cold November night the weather was considerably below and she was a witness to it. The void and emptiness that had engulfed her was now dissolved into nothingness; her waist long hair played deliriously with the winds and sent a shiver down her spine. She was standing in her balcony her hands swayed idly and the room was filled with the jingling sound of her bangles, there was a distant connection of bangles and them; their very first conversation had been on the subject of bangles and their significance and till today she failed to understand why did they have that conversation which was no where near rational and yet it was significant in shaping their relation; guess somethings are better left to themselves rather than fumbling with them and trying to figure it out.

It was way past midnight and yet she didn't feel eerie in this desolate hour as she stood watching the full moon gleaming in the starry night. The moon and the silent night had been a witness to all; their unsolicited problems, impending confusions, their silence and even their talks which were stark opposite just like they were, yet there was harmony. It seemed like an eternity had passed as she waited for his arrival; suddenly she felt a tug in her heart and she could feel his presence as he silently came and stood beside her.

None of them spoke and only silence lingered; it was not they did not wish to speak but there was no need for speech when silence and their hearts conversed. The tinkling of her bangles and their hushed breaths sounded like symphony in the still night. After what seemed like aeons he finally let go and spoke in a subtle voice, "Your like  water to my parched soul and I'm attracted to you like a moth to a flame!" she smiled and a tear formed in the corner of her eye as he took her into his embrace and all she said was, "My endless wait is now over!". And the night faded and at last a new dawn commenced.

"Then love knew it was called love.
And when I lifted my eyes to your name,
suddenly your heart showed me my way"

Summer Is Not Far Away !

The poem below is short I know like all my other poems but very dear to me...Also this is the very first time I'm experimenting with a happy poem moving away from melancholy finally ! Again this one has the setting as night, can't help it I love night and darkness more than the day as it helps me reflect back and it the only time I can hope for some solitude ! Hope you guys enjoy reading !

Summer Is Not Far Away !

The evening breeze sways,
Snapping her out of her reverie,
Reflecting back her day,
A smile retraces her way.

The countless stars in the sky,
Remind her of the hours that have gone by,
Reminiscing the past and shunning the grief,
She turns on a new leaf.

Eyeing the bright moon,
She foregoes her wistful thinking,
Seeking pardon for her sins,
She prays for a new beginning.

Taking the essence of night,
She slips into her dreamy flight,
Slowly dusk turns into dawn,
And she gleams like a newborn.

IRIDESCENT LIFE

I walk a lonely road,
On a path filled with trudgery,
The cold harsh wind blows,
Leaving me alone in melee.

It's driving me crazy,
And I can't find a way out,
Yet the more I try to elude,
The more I end up being tangled.

In one swift turn life changed,
And happiness replaced sorrow,
Giving birth to a new day,
Yet mysteries shrouded the way.

Time elapsed turning dusk to dawn,
Dissolving melancholy into hope,
Flowers bloomed and birds twittered,
And an invincible summer took over.

Looking back I now realize,
Nothing did really change,
Still days turned into night,
But the frown didn't remain !
